1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to Quizbud's mobile applications, website, browser-playable quizzes, APIs, and related support services. It does not apply to third-party websites or app stores that maintain their own policies.
2. Information you provide
- Profile details such as a display name and onboarding preferences.
- Quiz questions, answer choices, quiz responses, Pair answers, and shared quiz titles.
- Names or text submitted to calculators and writing generators.
- Private reflections, saved prompts, creations, and quiz history stored locally on your device.
3. Account and authentication data
When you sign in with Google or Apple, Firebase Authentication processes the provider credential and gives Quizbud a user identifier. Depending on your provider choices, we may receive your name, email address, profile image, and provider identifier. Quizbud does not receive your Google or Apple password.
4. Local device data
Quizbud is local-first. Profile preferences, quiz history, saved creations, private journal reflections, saved prompts, streak data, and app settings are generally stored on your device. Private reflections are not uploaded as Pair answers or public quiz content.
You can create a JSON export from the app. Exported files may contain sensitive personal writing and are under your control after export.
5. Server and shared data
Published custom quizzes and authenticated Pair sessions are stored in Google Cloud Firestore. Quiz documents include an owner identifier. Pair documents include host and guest identifiers, display names, prompts, answers, timestamps, and connection state. Access is handled through authenticated server APIs.
Browser quiz answers are evaluated in the browser and are not stored by Quizbud unless a feature clearly asks you to submit them.
6. Automatically collected information
- A randomly generated device identifier used for API rate limiting and abuse prevention.
- Basic request information such as IP address, user agent, timestamps, route, and error details processed by hosting and security infrastructure.
- Consent choices, app version, platform, and technical diagnostics needed to operate the service.
7. AI and content generation
When an online generation feature is available, the text you submit may be sent to Quizbud's API and an AI service provider to produce the requested output. Do not include information you do not want processed for that purpose. If the online service is unavailable, some features use bundled local content instead.
8. Purchases and advertising
App purchases and subscription status may be processed by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. Quizbud receives transaction and entitlement information but not your complete payment-card details.
Free versions may display advertising through Google AdMob. Where required, Quizbud requests age and advertising-consent choices before loading personalized advertising. Ad providers may process device, advertising, consent, and interaction information under their own policies. Private reflections, Pair answers, and quiz content are not intentionally supplied to ad networks for ad targeting.
9. Notifications and permissions
If enabled, reminder notifications are scheduled on your device. The app may request notification and media-library access only when needed for the feature you choose, such as adding a quiz image. You can manage permissions in your device settings.
10. How we use information
- Provide, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot Quizbud.
- Authenticate accounts and enforce quiz and Pair ownership.
- Generate requested content, calculate results, and synchronize shared features.
- Prevent spam, abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access.
- Manage purchases, consent, support, and legal obligations.
- Improve product reliability using aggregated or de-identified information.
11. Sharing and service providers
We disclose information only as needed to operate the service, comply with law, protect users, complete a business transaction, or with your direction. Providers may include Firebase and Google Cloud, hosting providers, Apple, Google Play, RevenueCat, advertising and consent providers, and AI infrastructure.
12. Retention and deletion
Local data remains until you delete it, reset the app, clear app data, or uninstall. Shared quizzes and Pair records are retained while needed to provide those features, prevent abuse, meet legal obligations, or resolve disputes. You may request deletion through the app or the account deletion page. Backup copies may persist temporarily before routine deletion.
13. Security and international processing
We use authentication, encrypted transport, access controls, and server-side authorization. No system is completely secure. Providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to applicable safeguards.
14. Children
Quizbud is not directed to children under 13, or the higher minimum age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. Account data can be removed through the authenticated in-app deletion control.
15. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, and to receive a portable copy. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
16. Cookies and similar technologies
The website and app may use cookies, local storage, and SDK identifiers for operation, security, preferences, and any consented measurement. See the Cookie Policy for details and how to manage your choices.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product, providers, or legal requirements change. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where required, provide a more prominent notice. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
